Setting & History

Pheasant and Partridge cottages are situated in a converted 100-year-old barn that in 2002 was a complete derelict. We purchased the property in 2001 and over a two year period completely restored the four properties situated on the six acre site. Both cottages overlook rolling Somerset countryside with views over to the famous Westbury White Horse to the North and the picturesque village of Buckland Dinham to the West. There are individual patio areas immediately outside the French doors of each cottage with their own wooden patio furniture, these patios lead straight onto a level area of lawn and then on to open paddock. These areas are for the enjoyment of our guests, their children and their pets.

We also have five acres of pasture from which public footpaths can be directly accessed. These can give an opportunity to enjoy woodland, river and village walks over an extensive area. We are only a short drive from a variety of picturesque and historic villages as well as north Dorset countryside forming part of the area made famous by Thomas Hardy's writings.
